1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
laid idly by while my skeletal muscle peaced out, lived with an "environmentalist" who didn't believe in a/c (thanks craigslist), snubbed Daisy Duck, did a weeks worth of work in one day, wore a heart monitor, accidentally ate chorizo and was sick for a week (thanks, eric), woke up on at least two occasions buck naked and not sure where I was or who I had become because the lulls of day drinking are inescapable and the depths of my class know no end, was given flowers, lived with 3 people and 4 cats in a sauna, watched my roommate fall through the ceiling, pawned diamonds for shoes, talked a carpenter into wearing stilettos, went to a gay dive bar and made friends with drag queens/watched a bull dyke wearing a neck brace get a lap dance from a go-go dancer, had vertigo for a week, attended a jewish wedding, attended a bowling tournament, 6 shots of whiskey in under an hour, pierogies, hung out with Sammy Hagar's BFF, somehow got into boxing, watched my parents go vegan & got krunk at a cat funeral. Rest in peace, Freeway.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Last year my resolution was "Don't get eaten by a bear" and I was successful. I chose to focus on things like gay dive bars and invisible jump roping to improve my life. Maybe this year if I win the lottery or start selling my body to science I'll have time to write more. or maybe I'll just get some cavities filled.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No but the berries conceived a little baby berry!!!!!! It's going to be a magic little bean.

5. What countries did you visit?
I went to Los Angeles and Orlando and Killeen, which are not countries. They are each their own little world in my memories though. Maybe when I can afford to do more than sign a rent check I will begin circumnavigating the globe. Until then, there's Hello Kitty moon bounces/mugging down in public parks at midnight/car naps/eating a shit ton of gummy bears just to see if they give me gas, and many other unplanned adventures/experiments to tide me over.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
disposable income, more audacity
7. What date(s) from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Feb 20 – Beard & mustache. Lots of yelling at inanimate objects/some cops and I think I punched Dr. Collins in the face. just for play.
March 20 – Southby sidebar reunion, so many faces I miss, so much love and hugs, and John in his rabbit ears as usual.
March 25 – Michella's bachelorette, Holly telling me how it is/unwanted but much needed epiphanies. That I of course did not act on.
May 2 – My 2nd pedal to the kettle. Being overzealous and all the deteriorating muscles that followed that stubborn refusal to give up.
May 16-20 – The happiest place on earth, raining the entire time.
July 15 – Rumeysa calling to tell me Daniel took his life.
Sept 12 – Phoenix's bachelorette party and those psychics who rattled off a list of musical instruments and made me cry.
Oct 10 – My first jewish wedding/falling asleep in Kelley's car and waking up to confessions/a lot of motion forward
Oct 17 – Sneaking off to the river with dad. Butterflies were migrating and dad yelled at cows. It was one of those days that felt perfectly calibrated.
Oct 18 – First date with Mark. No expectations, lots of fun. Completely taken by surprise. Not a day that has followed has been quite the same.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
remembering that there is No fear or shame in the dignity of my experience, language & knowledge.
9. What was your biggest failure?
lying to myself, unfinished circus stories, sneaky subconscious giving me writers block because it knows that's where my emotions go for their unveiling and sorting-out.
10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
rhabdomyolysis, vertigo, tendinitis, writer's block and apparently the left side of my heart beats slower than the right and it clicks between beats always.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Mark's christmas gift.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Jessica for deciding to spend more energy on making it work. Call me a sappy hopeless romantic or what you will, but that made me squeal out loud a little.
Mark for being all over that promotion like a duck on a junebug. His ambition and zest for life are admirable. Also he sometimes gets lost in daydreams about dinosaurs.
Gus for pooping in people's shoes. That's right – you get passive aggressive with me, my cat poops in your shoes.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Brandon is kindof a cheesedick.
14. Where did most of your money go?
the roof over my head, delicious cake, many happy hours.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
starting a metal band called ORGY OF DESTRUCTION. and a million other uncountable things, some just as imagined.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Moon bouncing/hazardous dancing. Writing about my moon bouncing/hazardous dancing.

hesitating, ignoring my gut, riding 100 miles in a 24 mph headwind, challenging sorbitol to duels with my stomach.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Gave dad pickles, sipped lukewarm beer in the back of a van, walked by the river, pointed at things, ate a bunch of Saudi-style dolmas, dreamt in French, didn't really change out of pajamas much, played ping pong, looked up at Venus, got holiday soft, interacted lovingly, braked only for margaritas.

23. How many one-night stands?
Believe it or not I actually kept my man-hungry poon trap in check. Maybe because that's still not my style. or Tool Academy was on.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Californiacation. I don' t really watch Tool Academy all the time, don't worry.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
some respect may have been lost, but dad taught me a long time ago to never use the word hate. I do like to use the word cheesedick a lot, though.
26. What was the best book you read?
Still in the thick of Infinite Jest, which is the best book ever written by humans. ever. Also Autobiography of Red for the 4th time because I think I've developed book ADD in my old age and I have to read at least 2 books simultaneously. And I'm discovering that maybe this is not such a good idea when attempting to read a book I could curl and get totally ripped with.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Glitch Mob, La Roux, the XX, Downlink, Excision
28. What did you want and get?

independent wealth. a bald eagle latch hook kit.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
my birthday came and went rather tamely under the shadow of the week before it, but there were diamonds and muffins so I couldn't complain. I didn't get to slip 'n slide for complicated reasons that most understood, but I got to see lovely faces that I hadn't seen in ages. Some good came of the awful thing that brought us back together - like free Taco Cabana and some public ass-slapping. Because that's how we grieve, apparently.
I turned 28.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
a panini grill.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Year of the flat. Finally gave in to skinny jeans and haven't looked back. Lots of feathers and flowers and tiny brass earrings.
34. What kept you sane?
the answer is obvious. the answer is "load me another bong hit"
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Chrissie Wellington – bitch is a robot.

37. Who did you miss?
my little turkish blondie, Reckner, the DeFords, Sparkles, Jessica, Twinkletoes, Pancakes. Why can't we all live in Austin and moon bounce/dance hazardously together all the time?
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Valorie Dockins. She sings everything she has to say and usually follows it with a jig or a secret handshake of some sort.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
• Don't piss off the tooth fairy or you'll regret it. The woman collects teeth for goodness sake!
• Something that you feel will find its own form.
• Don't be niggardly with your emotions. Just run 'em up a flagpole and see who salutes.
• No fear or shame in the dignity of your experience, language & knowledge.
• Also, when you're riding your bike 100 miles in a 24 mile an hour headwind and you start feeling sharp electric pains shooting up and down your legs maybe stop.
• oh and dad says the key to happiness is a hot shower.
